Surprise Snow Day

This December we were treated to a beautiful snow day. This happens so rarely in our little corner of the Deep South. The forecast said we might get a tiny bit, and so I told Harper not to get her hopes up too much. The next morning she woke up just after dawn and ran to look out the window. She came dashing back in to the bedroom and said “MAMA!!!! There’s SNOW ON THE GROUND and it’s everywhere!” I jumped up to go look (as I get as excited about seeing snow as she does!) and indeed, there was snow already sticking, and it was still coming down. We waited just until there was enough light out before heading out for the first play of the day.  We had some mishaps with the power going off and on all day, but all in all it was a wonderfully awesome day. We built a snowman, made snow cream, and snow angels. All the things we talk about when we daydream about snow. And if it doesn’t happen again for a few more years, we’ll have these sweet memories to look back on to hold us over.
