Project Files: Little Hearts Fair Isle Hat
Hi friends! I’m starting a new series on the blog this year, the Project Files. With this series, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite makes; ones that I’m currently working on and ones that I’ve completed.
I’d love to highlight some of my favorite designers through this series. I hope you enjoy these projects and find some inspiration along the way.
Pattern: Little Hearts Fair Isle Hat by Destiny Meyer (paid pattern), also check out her blog and shop, Knifty Knittings
Craft: Knitting
Yarn: Loops & Threads Cozy Wool from Michael’s in Fleece and Golden Rod
Project notes: Started & Finished October 2017
Why I love it: First, these hats are adorable!!! I kept seeing these adorable mommy and me hats on Instagram and I wanted matching hats for me and the girls. (I was pregnant with Lily when I started this project. At the time I’m publishing this post, she’s almost a year old and no longer fits in the infant hat. She wears Harper’s hat now!)
Second, this was a super easy pattern and perfect for a beginner’s fair isle project. The pattern is very clearly written and includes links to videos for how to do magic loop, decreasing the hat with the heart pattern, how to tack the floats in fair isle, and how to make the pompom (I didn’t make one for my hats). The designer was very thorough and includes multiple sizes from newborn, 3-6 m, 6-12 m, toddler/child, teen/adult, and large adult.
Third, I love quick and satisfying projects. I’m a busy mom and I can’t spend forever on a project or I’ll lose interest. This is a very quick knit if you have a free weekend. I was able to watch TV and carry on a conversation while knitting these.
I hope you give this pattern a try. If you’d like more inspiration with different color choices, browse this ravelry project page for more ideas!
